Five Gain Stages, 15 Watts, and Mark Tremonti's Tone in a Compact Head
The PRS MT15 V2 is the updated version of the signature amplifier head that Paul Reed Smith developed together with Mark Tremonti. The starting point was clear: maximum tone and versatility in a compact size suitable for the studio, the rehearsal room, and small stages. The result is a tube amplifier that sounds much bigger than its 15 watts suggest.
The heart of the MT15 is the lead channel with five gain stages for the master volume, similar to the PRS Archon. This delivers a full, layered distortion with tight lows and articulation that is maintained even at high gain. The push/pull overdrive on the treble knob switches out two gain stages for a crunchier, vintage mid-gain tone. The clean channel is bright and chimey, with a push/pull boost for a touch of old-school crunch. The global presence knob gives you the finishing touch on the overall sound.
The MT15 V2 is equipped with 2x TAD 6L6GCM-STR power amp tubes and 6x 12AX7/ECC83 preamp tubes. The power is switchable between 15 and 7 watts, an effects loop is present, and the amplifier comes with a 1-button footswitch for channel selection and a protective cover. Dimensions: 36 x 23 x 25.5 cm, weight: 8.1 kg.
