Skeletonized bracing and sustainable wood: the Martin that dares to be different
The Martin GPCE Inception Maple is an instrument that makes you look twice before playing it, and then never want to put it down. The most striking innovation is the Skeletonized X-Bracing: a traditional X-bracing in which strategically placed openings in the braces provide more resonance, a richer overtone structure and a tone with unusual depth and low-end build-up. At the same time, the guitar is entirely built from locally sourced wood surpluses, making it one of the most climate-conscious instruments in Martin's catalog.
The combination of European spruce, maple, and black walnut wood delivers a tone that is clear and defined, yet never feels cold. The spruce top responds quickly and dynamically, while the maple back and sides add a tight, articulate bass and bright highs. The black walnut wood in the back, neck, and fingerboard provides a warm midrange that ties the tone together. Whether you play fingerstyle or strum with a pick, the GPCE Inception sounds convincing in any context. The built-in LR Baggs Anthem provides an exceptionally natural reproduction of that acoustic sound on stage.
The Grand Performance cutaway body with 14-fret neck joint and High Performance Taper neck offers excellent access to the higher positions. The fingerboard and neck are made of black walnut wood with maple arrow and hexagonal inlays. Scale length 25.4", 20 frets, satin finish. Delivered with a molded hardshell case.
A Martin that goes its own way, and is therefore precisely the guitar for the player who does the same.
