The J-45 as Gibson intended: back to the 1950s, uncompromisingly
The Gibson 50s J-45 Original is more than a reissue. It's a conscious return to the original specifications of one of the most iconic acoustic guitars ever built. While the Standard is a contemporary interpretation, the 50s Original goes back to the source: the neck profile is fuller and rounder, as in the early production years, the multi-ply binding around the top, the large '50s tortoise pickguard, and the subtly creamed Grover mechanics give this instrument an authenticity you feel as soon as you pick it up.
In terms of tone, the J-45 does what it always has: sound big. The Sitka spruce top with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing and the selected mahogany back and sides produce a warm, full sound with enough dynamic range to go from whispering soft to full and present, purely by picking strength. The subtle aging not only gives the instrument a vintage look but also a feeling as if the guitar is already played in and ready for you. The L.R. Baggs VTC system ensures that this tone remains intact on stage, with volume and tone controls discreetly in the soundhole.
Further specs: nitrocellulose Vintage Sunburst finish, mahogany neck with round profile, rosewood fretboard with 20 frets, 12" radius, mother-of-pearl dot inlays, bone nut, TUSQ bridge pins, compound dovetail neck joint, and scale length 24.75". Includes original Gibson hardshell case.
For the guitarist who wants to know how Gibson intended it, before any compromises were made.
