The Fender '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb: Handwired Blackface Perfection with a Jensen C-12Q Heart

Few amplifiers are as deeply ingrained in the collective musical memory as the 1964 Deluxe Reverb. It was the year Fender made the transition to the blackface panel—brighter, more transparent, and with a reverb and vibrato circuit that has remained the standard ever since. The '64 Custom Deluxe Reverb is the most faithful reissue Fender has ever created: fully handwired point-to-point, with a 12" Jensen C-12Q speaker that comes closer to the authentic tone of the original than any mass-produced combo.

With 20 watts via two 6V6 power tubes, the '64 Custom offers just enough headroom for clean playing at reasonable volumes, but breaks up beautifully when pushed. Two independent channels—Normal and Bright—each with their own Volume, Treble, and Bass controls, plus the vibrato circuit with Speed and Intensity. The tube-driven reverb on the Bright channel is the benchmark for Fender reverb: rich, musical, and never overpowering. The 5AR4 rectifier contributes to the soft, flowing attack that makes these amplifiers so expressive.

Preamp tubes: 3x 12AX7 and 2x 12AT7. Two inputs per channel (4 total), 1/4" speaker output, included 2-button footswitch for reverb and vibrato. Point-to-point wiring, original '64 schematics, hand-selected tubes. Comes with hardshell case. For the guitarist for whom only the original recipe suffices.
