Epiphone's long association with Les Paul himself dates back to 1940, when he worked in the original Epiphone factory in Manhattan on one of the world's first solid-body electric guitars: "The Log." The Epiphone Les Paul Standard 50s features a mahogany body with a maple top , a combination that delivers the characteristic rich midrange, warm sustain, and subtle clarity inherent in the Les Paul sound. The mahogany neck , with its comfortable 1959 Rounded Medium C profile and long neck tenon, offers excellent stability and extended sustain.

The rosewood fingerboard features 22 medium-jumbo frets and classic pearloid trapezoid inlays .
