The SJ-200 Elvis Played: Two Kings in One Instrument

The Gibson SJ-200 is known as The King of the Flat-Tops. Elvis Presley is known as The King of Rock and Roll. This Elvis SJ-200 brings those two legends together in one instrument. The model is based on an SJ-200 that Elvis received as a gift in the mid-sixties during a recording session at RCA Studio B in Nashville. He used the guitar for countless live shows until he gave it to his friend and assistant Marty Lacker in 1976. Gibson honors that history with a guitar that respects every detail of that original, including the impressive Ebony finish that makes the SJ-200 even more imposing than it already is.

The Sitka Spruce top on maple back and sides delivers the characteristic Super Jumbo sound: enormous projection, rich bass tones, and a clarity in the high registers that distinguishes the SJ-200 from any other acoustic guitar. The LR Baggs VTC pickup ensures that this sound remains intact on stage. The iconic Moustache bridge in rosewood with Mother-of-Pearl hourglass and teardrop inlays, the Graduated Crown inlays on the fretboard, and the gold Grover Keystone tuners make this instrument visually as impressive as it is acoustically.

The two-piece maple neck with a walnut center strip has a Rounded profile with a rosewood fretboard, Mother-of-Pearl Graduated Crown inlays, and 20 frets over a 25.5-inch scale length. The nut and saddle are made of bone. The Ebony nitrocellulose lacquer with multiple layers of binding on the top, back, and headstock completes an instrument that does justice to both kings. Supplied with a Gibson hardshell case.
