The Ibanez MDM1605 provides focused tone control for five strings with the Sonitech S preamp
The Ibanez MDM1605 Natural Mocha Low Gloss combines a five-string range with modern, versatile features. Beneath the poplar burl top lies an alder body, while the roasted maple neck and rosewood fretboard give the instrument its own unique material combination. The extra-low B string provides room for deep basslines and alternative tunings without having to change your setup. This is a bass for players who take both their playing feel and their place in the mix seriously.
Two passive Delta S5J pickups form the foundation of your sound. The Ibanez Sonitech S preamp adds a three-band EQ, allowing you to shape the lows, mids, and highs to suit the music. The midrange section is particularly interesting: a three-way switch works in conjunction with the Hexa Mid system, offering room to refine the character of your basslines. Whether you are looking for more emphasis for a melodic part or a different midrange for tight accompaniment, you have the controls right on the instrument. With the push/pull EQ bypass, you can switch off the equalizer when you want to play without that tone correction.
The MDM5 roasted maple neck has a scale length of 864 mm, or 34 inches. The neck width goes from 45 mm at the nut to 74 mm at the 24th fret; the thickness is 20.5 mm at the first fret and 22.5 mm at the twelfth. The rosewood fretboard has a 305 mm radius, white dot inlays, and 24 medium stainless steel frets. The MR5S bridge offers a string spacing of 18 mm, and the hardware is black. From the factory, the bass is tuned to G, D, A, E, and B, with D’Addario EXL165 strings plus a .130, in gauges .045/.065/.085/.105/.130.
From a solid low-end foundation to a bassline that can emphatically come to the forefront: discover how this Ibanez MDM1605 brings your playing and tonal choices together.
